Remingtons Nursery! (and more!)

Remingtons room isn't 100% finished and we still have a few things to get but for the most part we are set to have our little man come home when he's done cooking :) Kaiden and Remington are sharing a room for now, although Remington probably won't actually be sleeping in his room until he's 5-6 months old and sleeping through the night. The one thing I forgot to show is our co sleeper where Remington will be sleeping for that time period right next to our bed.

This is what it looks like, we got the full size one so he can be in it longer and it fits right up against the bed so I can see him at all times with out him actually being in the bed. Also scored this practically new for $40 Normally $199.99

It then attaches to bed like this.

I think the boys will LOVE sharing a room and growing up together in the same room. I definitely don't think they will be sharing a room when their teenagers but for now it works :) And me and Jake get to keep our office ;) I love how Remingtons side of the room came out! I was so worried in the beginning of Remingtons Nautical theme clashing with Kaidens robot theme of the room but I think it turned out really cute! I am definitely someone who looks for deals and I rarely ever buy things brand new or for full price! I posted some info in the captions under the pictures of where I got things and there prices! I hope you love his room as much as I do! Enjoy :)

PS. I took these pictures at night so the lighting isn't the best!

The picture frame I got for $2.99 on clearance at marshals. I painted the frame blue to match and added in Remingtons ultrasound pictures and put a sea horse sticker to match. Every day Kaiden loves pointing out baby Remy and the sea horse :)

Not the best picture, but I love this wood plaque I got from gordmans. "Anchor yourself in my heart" with a spot for two pictures of Remington.

I'm pretty proud of this wall. I got the letters from hobby lobby, painted them and added little sea wood decals to make them unique. We also found the fish wall stickers at hobby lobby for $10! And my sweetest friend Britni got us the wheel and I restored it and painted it to match as well :)
Remingtons crib (used to be Kaidens crib) I got the navy mattress sheet at target on sale for $8 and found his adorable bumper online for $40. It has a turtle, crab, octopus, fish and coral on it :) We still don't have a crib skirt yet.
The top of Remingtons armoire. My dad gave me the wood dolphins. And I found the canvas and sea horse and fish boxes at gordmans as well. The Sea turtle canvas is definitely one of my favorites!

Remingtons side of the room with his crib, name and his armoire we scored online for $25!
One of the drawers in Remingtons armoire. Full of toys for him :)
95% of these clothes are size 3 months! lol. The top is one piece outfits, onsies and T-shirts. the middle shelf is pants and sleepers and the bottom has yet to be filled with clothes for when he gets older.

Remingtons Graco sweet peace swing! and the best part about it, IT PLUGS IN! and also has a head phone jack so we can hook up our phones to play music for him :)
Carseat all ready to go!

Still want to get a wipes warmer but heres the changing table thats currently in our room until he gets switched into his room. We scored this used for $40! and it looks like new. The changing pad and cover are from when Kaiden had a changing table.

Second drawer is filled with all newborn clothes. (sleepers, onesies, and pants)

Bottom drawer is filled with cloth diaper prefolds, nursing supplies and burp clothes.

Next to the changing table we have the hoppy pillows, breast pump, and our spare pump (thank you insurance!) lol as well as extra parts and nursing covers.

Top drawer of the changing table just has some socks from Kaiden, and some newborn hats. This will soon be filled with wipes and newborn diapers.
cloth diapers. AIO's and NB pocket diapers.
Cloth diaper covers for the prefolds and when he grows into them as well as some wet bags.

PREPARING FOR BABY! - Baby #2

BABY BABY BABY!!!

I swear that is all I talk/ think about these days is baby talk. Let me explain. Ever since I decided I WILL have a natural birth I have been doing everything in my will / power to prepare for it! Seeing as I went into my first birth completely blind sided and getting wrapped up into the common hospital ball of intervention after intervention (almost ending in a C-section) I knew I was going to make some changes, BIG changes! Starting off with the most talked about and loved birth classes in our area the confident birthing classes. We have only had 2 classes out of the 7 but I just can't get enough information. I am completely fascinated at how much I didn't know! You would think someone who has gone through birth before would know this stuff from the simple facts like how a baby is pushed out and how amazing our bodies / uterus's really are to how much our minds and bodies are connected in one of the most amazing moments of our lives, giving birth and how our brains are correlated to what we're told (that labor is unbearable pain and to get the Epidural) compared to what is actually going on (our minds and bodies were made to give birth and that we need to trust our bodies). We are taught that birth WILL be painful and it WILL hurt. The truth is that we can help control the pain with our minds. Not every womens birth is painful and that's a fact. Sometimes women even have orgasmic or euphoric births. Not saying this is the norm, or that it happens often but it does indeed happen to some women. (as Ina May says in her Guide to child birth book, Why are some women's births excruciatingly painful and some women feel no pain at all?) On top of taking birth classes I have started reading a couple books as well, the first is Ina May's Guide to Childbirth. One of the worlds most know midwives. Birth isn't something that should be feared, but in the US it most often is. I have a completely different mind set than I did before starting any research. I went into this pregnancy completely fearing birth because of my first experience. But its amazing how fast my mind changed to "I can do this, theres no other options and I WILL do this" I proved the nurses/ doctors wrong. They wanted to rush me into a C-section with Kaiden but I pushed him out, all on my own, so I know what my body is capable of. As my birth teacher would put it "I have a competent uterus that knows what to do" lol. The book I will be reading after that is called "Natural Hospital Birth", These are the kind of books I don't want to put down. I love that I have them on my iPad on the ibooks app so I can sit up and read them after Jake goes to bed. :)

Other than preparing for Remingtons birth mentally as I can I have also been trying to get everything done thats supposed to be done with in the next 2 months or less. I know it may seem like a long time but to me that feels like weeks because this pregnancy has gone by so fast. I much rather be over prepared than under! I'm already even thinking about what I should be putting into the hospital bag as well!

We FINALLY decided on what we are going to do for diapers for the first 4-5 months until Remington fits into his prefolds and diaper covers (cloth diapers). I was trying to decide if we wanted to go with the honest company diapers which are a little spendy $80 a month for their subscription that send you all the wipes and diapers you need every month, they are eco friendly and plant based an I've heard a lot of good things about them but the price made me look at other options. I looked more into the G-diapers which are kind of a cloth/ disposable system but still definitely eco friendly but cheaper at the same time. I really want to focus on baby and not have to worry about laundry right when he's born so thats why we decided to wait until he's a little older to switch to cloth. G-diapers have a cloth outside with a snap in liner that you place a disposable insert into, so whenever you change the diaper you just take out the insert and flush it or throw it away, and put in a new one. So sort of the best of both worlds in my opinion. I hope we like them!

I ordered the invites for the baby shower that should be coming in on Monday so I can get those sent out and I've ordered pretty much everything we need for that day. All we have to do is get the food for the BBQ which we will do when the day of the baby shower gets closer.

We have set up a meeting with our birth / newborn photographer to discuss what we want for our birth photos and talk about what we plan on doing for our birth! I'm so excited to have birth photos this time since I didn't do that with Kaiden, I know I will treasure those pictures because you only have a baby a few times in your life.

We still need to get our stuff for the placenta encapsulation which Jake will be doing at our house as soon as we get home from the hospital! I have such an amazing hubby who is willing to do that for me! Saves us a ton of money!

And last but definitely not least is meal prepping! Not only for me for after Remington is born but for Kaiden when he goes off to my Aunts house while we are in labor and until we bring Remington home. Planning and freezing his meals, because although we hope we can go home 24 hours after Remington is born you can never predict the future.

Other than that, I have prepped the prefolds by boiling and washing them, boiled any bottles/ breast pump parts, I have everything folded and put away (even though I still need to wash all his clothes which I'll be doing after the baby shower) I even got his car seat ready to go (out of the box lol) this week. His crib and co sleeper are all ready for him as well as his changing table. I would say we are pretty much set to meet little man #2 (besides everything I mentioned above that I have to do!) Oh and I still need to deep clean the house but lets hope my nesting kicks in soon because all my body has been wanting to do lately is sleep and eat!

I did do some prenatal yoga this morning which seemed to help with my tiredness, and it also helps get baby into position for birth! :D

30 Week Pregnancy Update - Baby #2

To be honest I can't even believe I'm writing my 30 week pregnancy update already!! I mean, wasn't last month January?! It's becoming more real everyday that baby boy Remy is going to be here before we can blink! I know I haven't updated in awhile but I guess I don't feel the need to when not much has changed pregnancy wise (besides me getting bigger of course!) It is time for a much needed update though on the last week of life.

So when I was 28 weeks I had my glucose test. Because I didn't want to drink the nasty glucose drink with red dye and preservatives in it I called and asked about an alternative option (sorry if I'm repeating anything from my passed blogs, pregnancy brain has been at its worst lately!) anyways, so before my test I had a meal that accumulated to the amount of sugar in the drink they give you with a bowl of cereal, an egg, orange juice and I think something else. I guess now they let you drink the glucose drink before your appointment so you don't have to sit there for an hour, so I ate my meal right before I went in. Then my midwife checked what she needed to, blood pressure, urine, babys heart rate which was 157 and his position (head down, but that can still change).
She then gave us a birth plan full of all our options to fill out. She does this with all of her patients so they know that they have options and something that she can give all the nurses and doctors for when you are in labor so things can go as closely to how you want them to, even in emergency situations. She also talked about things to look for such as pre-eclampsia and pre-term labor and then answered any and all the questions we had.
We discussed a lot of how bad my last labor went and why and how things should have been handled differently. This was definitely the appointment where I knew in my head that I love my midwife and we went with the right decision as her being my doctor and the person to deliver our baby. (even though I plan to be the one to catch our little guy when he comes out). I'm so excited that it will either be my midwife or one other midwife that works with her to deliver baby Remington. Not 9 possible different doctors that I've never met before! (like my first birth!)

We will meet with the other midwife at my next appointment so we can get to meet her before labor comes. I'm hoping and praying this experience is so much different than my first! I don't know how it could be anywhere as long (39 hours) and as hard as my first. We have definitely planned for the best possible outcome this time and know all our options! and a huge difference this time, I won't be afraid to stick up for the decisions that I have want/ made. Going into your labor well informed is one of the best decisions you can do for not only your baby but you as well. Here's just a few decisions we have made as part of our birth plan (some are subject to change depending on if things take a turn):

- Dim lights/ low noise
- Intermittent monitoring for baby's heart rate. (not constant so I can move around where I want)
-No internal exams unless labor isn't progressing (avoids infection)
-I can choose to eat and drink as needed to keep my energy up
-No IV
-No breaking my water, it will happen when its suppose to
-Medication free birth
- I plan on using the bath and other methods learned in birth classes to cope
-I am free to move as I want and be in any position comfortable
-NO students allowed in the room this time
- I will not be induced unless medically necessary
- Delayed cord clamping
-Placenta encapsulation
-No vaccinations
- Baby will room in with us the whole time
-Strictly no formula!

This is a little bit of the outline on some decisions me and Jake have made so far. I think at the next appointment we will be getting our registration papers in as well as taking a hospital tour! Pretty much everything is set for baby this far, we just have a few things we need to get but are waiting until after our baby shower to buy anything else. I will make a separate post about that because I've been having a lot of fun planning the baby shower :)

Also an update on my glucose test I passed that with flying colors but my iron is still low :( (they told me that in the beginning as well) so now they have me on an iron supplement and although I'm getting towards the end and its normal to be tired, my random spouts of weakness in my limbs has gone away which is awesome!

Remington is getting so big and it's amazing feeling his movements all through out the day. I remember in the beginning when I couldn't wait to feel him move. He now gets the hiccups 1-2 times a day which I think is so cute! It's starting to get so hard to find clothes that fit as well. I stick to the same 7/8 shirts and even my maternity shirts are getting tight, but I hate to go buy new ones when I'll only fit in them a few more months. And I must say I definitely prefer being at the end of my pregnancy in the summer rather than when I was pregnant with Kaiden in the winter and it was so much harder to find clothes/ coats to cover up my big belly! I've been feeling amazing this pregnancy and I'm pretty sure my diet and staying active has made all the difference. I honestly don't have a single complaint! I don't know how I got so lucky with such amazing pregnancies! I truly am very blessed! Anyways I think that's all for now! Almost 1:30 AM!
